As the Manager for Academic Personnel in the Psychiatry Department at UCLA's Semel Institute, you'll manage human resources and payroll for more than 1,000 academic appointees, as well as advising on faculty recruitment, appointments, advancements, and compensation.
In this crucial role, you'll supervise seven full-time staff members and help develop internal policies and procedures as part of the senior management team. You'll also manage the review process for 350 faculty members in Westwood and at our affiliated institutions. In addition, you'll play an integral part in researching and recommending innovative funding solutions to address frequent funding changes for faculty.

SELECTED DUTIES Directing personnel services for 600 voluntary clinical faculty and 110 researchers Managing all aspects of recruitment, benefits, and payroll for academic appointees Advising faculty members on performance issues, leaves, and outside activities Managing the academic roster for more than 100 state-funded faculty provisions Participating in budget preparations
JOB QUALIFICATIONS Experience in managing operations of a large department Knowledge of academic personnel policies and procedures, with knowledge of the Health Sciences Comprehensive Plan strongly preferred Skill in resolving complex personnel issues and applying established policies Experiences in developing procedures for smooth office operation Supervisory experience, including employee evaluation and discipline Excellent communication skills
