Successful candidates will be gifted clinicians or investigators committed to improving the lives of youth through patient care, education, research, and advocacy. The Child Psychiatry Division offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment for those under 21 with mood, anxiety, behavior, psychotic, learning, and developmental disorders, those at risk for suicide, those who have experienced adverse or traumatic events, and substance abuse co-occurring with mental illness. The Maine Medical Center Research Institute (MMCRI) supports and encourages a broad spectrum of research at Maine Medical Center, ranging from basic laboratory-based research through translational research. At MMRCI, the major focus of the Center of Psychiatric Research is on uncovering the biological underpinnings of psychiatric disease and behavioral dysfunction, including best practices for treatment of early psychosis, and investigating genetic risk factors underlying neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism.
