CASA Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health and the University of Alberta, in conjunction with Alberta Health Services invite nominations, expressions of interest, and applications for the CASA Research Chair in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. This is an excellent opportunity to hold a well-funded clinical and academic appointment with protected time for research.
The CASA Research Chair is a full-time tenure-track professorship in the Department of Psychiatry within the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry. With a diverse group of outstanding, internationally recognized scientists, the Department of Psychiatry couples basic science with clinical research to promote world-class investigations on issues relevant to mental health. Its vital collaboration with Alberta Health Services helps to build an unparalleled academic healthcare environment with an excellent suite of educational programs. Researchers in the Department access competitive funding through a variety of provincial and national agencies.
Treating more than 4,000 children and adolescents yearly, CASA is a community-based, non-profit and accredited health organization. Its family-centered approach, outreach services, and programs help to transform the lives of children with mental health and addiction concerns and strengthen family resilience and hope. The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry is one of Canada’s premiere health-sciences institutes with excellent opportunities for collaborative research. The successful candidate will be an MD clinician scientist who ideally holds a PhD. With a strong record of research accomplishment, success in competing for external funding, and the ability to mentor research trainees, the CASA Chair will foster a world-class academic and practice-focused research program in Child & Adolescent mental health. Enhancing existing scientific research and developing new, innovative, and evidence-based interventions, the CASA Chair will work collaboratively with other research groups and centres provincially, nationally, and internationally.
