The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is pleased to announce the recruitment for Director of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, one of seven Divisions in the UAB Department of Psychiatry. The Division provides clinical services, including high volume inpatient, outpatient, consultation, and emergency department care, at both UAB facilities as well as Children’s of Alabama adjacent to the University-based practice. The Division also provides a highly regarded Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship program. The divisional faculty also support training our general psychiatry residents, medical students, and professionals in training from other disciplines. We are inviting applications from qualified candidates for this full-time position through the Department of Psychiatry, School of Medicine. The candidate must have an M.D. or DO degree, Board Certification in Psychiatry and in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and be eligible for a license to practice medicine in Alabama. The successful candidate should have a national reputation in academic psychiatry and a track record of administrative experience in academic settings. Rank, tenure status and salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The Child and Adolescent Division presently includes nine faculty members with diverse interests and expertise. The Director is responsible for oversight of both clinical and teaching activities in the Division, partnering with leadership at both UAB and Children’s of Alabama, and reports directly to the Chair of the Department. The new Division Director will have an opportunity to recruit additional faculty in support of our teaching and clinical missions.
