Mott Children’s Health Center (MCHC) in Flint, Michigan is looking for a full-time, board eligible/board certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to provide consultation and clinical leadership in the Child & Adolescent Health/Psychiatry (CAH/P) Department, including:

Clinical Care Delivery

  • Provides consultation and clinical leadership in CAH/P.
  • Completes psychiatric evaluations and develops mental health management plan in collaboration with the clinical team.
  • Documents progress/data in client’s EHR utilizing objective, measurable methods.
  • Prescribes and monitors medications along with any possible side effects.

Community/University Collaboration

  • Assists in evaluating the needs of the community and target population as it relates to mental health services.
  • Participates in the development of innovative community-based mental health initiatives to maximize the impact of MCHC resources.
  • Assists in the development and evaluation of CAH/P programs.  

Education/Training

  • Participates in the development of departmental training plans, educational programs, prevention and intervention initiatives.
  • Coordinates specialized training/in-service programs for CAH/P staff involved in primary care.

Administration

  • Assists the Clinical Director in establishing short and long-range goals/objectives to assure departmental objectives are accomplished.
  • Participates in the review, analysis, interpretation and revision of policies and procedures.
  • Participates in the clinical supervision of Mental Health Specialists, RN-Case Manager and other staff involved in primary care.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

  • Must hold a medical degree from a recognized/accredited medical school and be Board Certified in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry or Board Eligible with the completion of Board certification required within one year. 
  • Must have a Michigan license to practice medicine and DEA License (transferable to MCHC).
  • Must provide evidence of Professional Liability Insurance including a reporting extension endorsement (Tail Insurance Coverage) for potential claims liability from treatment rendered or that should have been rendered during/for any practice services other than services directly for MCHC. (MCHC provides Professional Liability Insurance including Tail Coverage for MCHC services during applicable MCHC employment period.)
  • Personal qualities of unquestioned integrity, professional dedication and commitment to the basic tenets of the Center’s service mission are required. Other attributes of demonstrated leadership, communication and team building skills are also required.
  • Basic computer skills required: Microsoft Word (35 wpm), Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Remote Desktop, Adobe Acrobat
  • Intermediate computer skills required: EHR/EMR/EPM
