Division Chair Child and Adolescent Psychiatry – Position F63810
The Department of Psychiatry at Virginia Commonwealth University is currently seeking a senior level academic full-time child and adolescent psychiatrist to serve as its Division Chair, a member of the Department’s leadership team. The chief purpose of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is to improve the mental health of children and families through clinical care, research, education, and public awareness. This is an opportunity for a dynamic leader who is interested in building programs of excellence, implementing new services and models of care, growing existing programs to meet the needs of our patients and community, developing and supporting research, and enhancing the experience of our trainees.
The Division Chair will be responsible for the operation and growth of the child and adolescent psychiatry inpatient and ambulatory care services, as well as its educational and research programs. The Division Chair will serve as a catalyst for innovation, leading re-design, and advancement of clinical services to bring the latest evidence-based practice models to our patients, community, and trainees. The incumbent will be looked upon to build and grow clinical programs of excellence, innovate, and to foster collaborative relationships. The Division Chair will play a key role in maintaining and developing our ACGME fellowship program, APA accredited Pre-doctoral Internship, as well as our Master's and Post-doctoral level training programs/experiences. The Division Chair should have a vision and interest in helping the Department of Psychiatry, VCU, VCUHS, and CHoR become national leaders in child and adolescent care and research at the local, regional, national, and international levels.
Applicants must have a MD/DO; clinical training in Psychiatry and certification through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, as well as subspecialty training and board certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry; Virginia state medical licensure or eligibility. Significant academic and clinical leadership experience in a C&A psychiatry program at a major academic healthcare organization. Leadership experience should include clinical practice oversight, strategic planning, direct faculty/provider oversight, managing staffing and recruitment, fostering of clinical research, and faculty and trainee mentoring. Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment and a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU. A distinguished academic record and national presence in the field of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, journal editorial responsibilities, positions in major national organization(s), or equivalent background.
