This position is located at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center Mental Health Service Line. The Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (MHRRTP) provides residential treatment for Veterans dealing with issues related to homelessness, Domiciliary Care Homeless Veteran Program, Substance Abuse Disorders, and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. The MH RRTP Assistant Manager assists the MHRRTP Manager with a broad array of administrative and clinical aspects of the residential programs. Supervises a group of employees performing work at various GS levels (e.g. social workers, psychologists, medical support assistants, social science specialists, program support assistants, etc.) and coordinates services among other disciplines and provides administrative, technical and clinical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the MH RRTP including outreach efforts. Performs the administrative and personnel management functions relative to staff supervised and establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff, which are clearly communicated through the formal employee performance management system. Observes workers' performance and conducts work performance critiques, as well as providing informal feedback and periodically evaluating employee performance. Provides advice and counsel to workers related to work and administrative matters and may take disciplinary measures as appropriate to the authority delegated in this area. Manages and controls the use of data related to the residential program regarding day to day functioning and program evaluation.
