Incumbent will provide and deliver psychiatric clinical and case management services in primarily an ambulatory setting, synchronous telehealth format, integrating direct examination, collateral sources with appropriate authorizations, exercising clinical judgment of applied theory and practice of the psychiatry profession across the full range of conditions described in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) and relevant associated comorbid psychiatric and medical conditions to analyze problems and issues of diverse scope to determine solutions.
Independently performs tasks and may consult with a combination of licensed providers, administrative, and support staff for delivery of individual services, crises, determinations and facilitations of higher and lower levels of care, outreach, and programming. May participate in delivery of family, couples, group, assessment and reporting, research and educational services when required. Accurately prioritizes and triages clinical urgencies from routine care. In the area of peer/coworker engagement, holds self accountable for meeting commitments. In line with and regularly consulting with direct manger/supervisor(s), contributes to and actively supports a climate in which people can do their best. Invites input from others and shares ownership and recognition. Demonstrates enthusiasm for capturing relevant and pragmatic new opportunities in the face of changes or challenges. Encourages and supports discretionary effort to maximize one’s own and other’s contributions within role scope. Integrates specialty patient care services with accessible Primary care services, with comprehensive, timely, and appropriate documentation of services in accordance with professional, federal, state, local and university requirements.
Demonstrates clinical mastery, on a range of health science topics and accurately renders diagnoses, delivers outcome-based recovery within treatment plan in biopsychosocial model with attention to coding, billing, customer service and shared-decision making. Executes medical orders, referrals, and interprets clinical findings (including laboratory, procedural, and consultative reports) as part of duties. Customizes delivery of services in a holistic, identity-integrated formulation (i.e. cultural formulation) for each patient, and recommend achievable, pragmatic solutions that take into account the availability of local resources and systems of care, assisting in and facilitating treatment-related referrals. Maintains understanding and awareness of social, cultural, and environmental contexts of health.
Participates in, supports and develops when applicable commitment to lifelong learning, quality management and peer review activities.
Case/Care management services may be provided in coordination with team, or when needed, independently, and vary among tasks associated with care and service management, coordination and healthcare-recovery related navigation of appropriate systems of care.

Independently and efficiently manage direct patient services (new, follow up and consultative examinations, crisis and triage assessments, case management, telephone/patient-related messages and calls) along with determinations of appropriate patient dispositions (e.g. active v. terminations), along with nondirect patient-related services (letters, forms, administrative, consultations). In the areas of job mastery and continuous learning, applies background, technical knowledge, education, and prior job experiences to current and new job situations. Demonstrates technical competence, job knowledge and ability to add value beyond the core job function. Graduate of an accredited medical school and successful completion of Psychiatry residency at an ACGME-accredited program
Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in state of California as an MD/DO
Hold current American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) Board-certification in specialty of Psychiatry
Maintain active and current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Certification
Knowledge, skills, and practice of current psychiatric diagnosis and treatment principles and application relating to general psychiatric practice and specifically to target population, including complex, comorbid solo-management and multidisciplinary treatment (e.g comorbid drug and alcohol use/chemical dependency; eating disorders, ADHD/LD, serious mental illness)
Knowledge of FERPA, CMIA, and patient privacy issues pertaining to the delivery of health care, especially mental health
Knowledge and application of standard of psychiatric care in the greater community
Mastery of longitudinal patient care delivery experience with successful outcomes, including delivery of effective psychosocial evidence-based interventions
Sensitivity to issues relating to all forms of diversity, including but not limited to culture, sexual orientation, gender, and socioeconomic status
Awareness and pragmatic facilitation of developmental issues as they relate to young adults transitioning into new psychosocial events (e.g. living environments)
Experience and successful adherence with objective quality metrics, peer review, and ongoing practice performance, as well as accreditation standards/requirements
Excellent written, verbal, and other communication skills, customized appropriately for diverse audiences
Comprehensive system-of-care knowledge and experience
Knowledge and experience with accurate billing/coding consistent with Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) categories
Proficiency with technology and office software programs sufficient to keep pace with productivity standards, electronic medical record system, and administrative tasks/duties
Collegial, supportive, and professional interpersonal skills
One to three (1 - 3) years direct patient care experience after completion of accredited Psychiatry residency training program
Subspecialty ABPN certifications
Prior experience working professionally with complex emotional, psychological, and psychiatric issues among young adults/early adolescents/transitional age youth
Sophisticated experience with required technology and pragmatic assessment of technological innovations
Effective and appropriate professional citizenship, availability, affability, good habits, conduct, contributing to group culture of practice/service
Interest and contributions to practice growth
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
