Post Doctoral Fellow position. Under the supervision of one or more Clinical Psychologists, provide full psychological assessment, diagnosis, and therapy, case management services, referral, and follow-up for acute, chronic, or moderately disturbed mentally ill clients and/or patients, as part of a pre-licensure program required to attain fully licensed status as a Clinical Psychologist in New Mexico. Clinical activities will occur in integrated behavioral health settings including primary medical care or specialty medical (i.e. Pain, Cardiac, Transplant) care settings. The fellowâs time will be divided between direct patient care, administrative and support activities, and supervision and training activities. Ensure adherence to Hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include; Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups.
PATIENT CARE - Diagnose or evaluate mental and emotional disorders of individuals and administer programs of treatment; interview patients in clinics, hospitals, and other settings and study medical and social case histories
PATIENT CARE - Observe patients in various situations; select, administer, and interpret intelligence, personality, or other psychological tests to diagnose disorders and formulate plans of treatment
CONSULTATION - Provide consultation to other mental health professionals with regard to test results
PATIENT CARE - Treat psychological disorders to effect improved adjustments utilizing various psychological techniques; select appropriate treatment approach and plans frequency, intensity, and duration of individual, group, and family therapies
PATIENT CARE - Assess patient progress and modifies treatment programs accordingly; communicate with and counsel family members as appropriate
PATIENT CARE - Document therapy in accordance with policies and procedures regarding medical records; implement and adhere to policies which ensure patient confidentiality
PATIENT CARE - Provide crisis intervention in situations requiring immediate psychological treatment
DEVELOPMENT - Participate in educational programs, in-service meetings, clinician meetings, and workshops to enhance professional development and maintain currency of methodology and techniques
Provides psychological consultations to other mental health professionals within hospitals, clinics, and other community based agencies with regard to clients and/or patient care
Receives guidance, training, and detailed review of work from licensed clinical psychologists within the unit
PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"
Doctoral Degree in related discipline
Complete pre-doctoral internship and be license eligible within one year
The postdoctoral fellowship is a one-year appointment. The expectation is that fellows will submit documentation for licensure within 6 months of date of hire, and complete the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology within 10 months of date of hire.
CPR Certification for Healthcare/BLS Providers or for Professional Rescuers or must obtain within 30 calendar days of date of position

Physical Demands Requirements:
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Tuberculosis testing is completed upon hire and additionally as required
