Department Purpose
Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS) provides primary care, mental health, urgent care, laboratory, pharmacy, health education and counseling services to registered UC Davis students. SHCS serves approximately 300 patients per day during the school year. The mission is to provide campus health and wellness resources that enable students to successfully achieve their academic goals and life-long wellness. SHCS has approximately 160 staff including managers, senior professionals, professional and support staff, student employees, interns and post doc residents. SHCS is accredited by AAAHC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care), and IACS (International Association for Counseling Services). For more information on the department, see http://healthcenter.ucdavis.edu.SHCS Counseling Services are staffed by an educationally diverse group of licensed psychologists, psychiatrists, Masters level therapists, and pre-and post-doctoral trainees, dedicated to assisting students and enriching the university community by providing individual counseling, group services, educational programs, psychological consultation, workshops, and other types of outreach services. Counseling services are offered at no cost to registered students.
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Medical Staff Supervisor of Student Health & Counseling Services (SHCS) this position performs professional patient care assigned by quarterly clinic schedule, provides clinical care and education for campus programs, complies with provisions of the Medical Staff Bylaws and professional requirements of SHCS and UC Davis policies and procedures as well as all State and Federal professional legal requirements.
Please Note: The Recruitment Period is for 1 month: Applicants will be screened after two weeks; and then on a weekly basis. The position can be filled prior to the removal date.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. Smoking, the use of smokeless tobacco products, and the use of unregulated nicotine products (e-cigarettes) will be strictly prohibited on any UC Davis owned or leased property, indoors and outdoors, including parking lots and residential space.
- Position subject to credentialing process at Student Health and Counseling Services.
- This position is subject to pre-placement screening provided by Occupational Health Services.
- Pre-placement screening will consist infection control testing that includes blood tests for TB screening and other infectious diseases and may include a physical exam, provided by Occupational Health Services, given at no charge to the applicant. This is done to meet Federal, State and University requirements.
- Position may, at times, require employee to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infection diseases are present.
- Position requires signing a statement of understanding of the Dependent Adult/Elder Abuse Reporting Requirement and UC Davis’ Child Abuse-Employee Notification Requirement.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Additional Minimum License/Certification:
- Current licensure by California Board of Medical Quality Assurance.
- Current Board Certification recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or the Osteopathic Board.
- Current DEA and CPR certification.
Minimum Education/Experience:
- Recent experience in clinical practice.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Education/Experience:
- Experience working with Practice Management Database and/or Electronic Medical Record system.
- Experience in Women’s Health including LARC insertion/removal
- Experience in Sexual Health including Transgender Care and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP)
- Experience in Eating Disorders, Travel Medicine, Sports Medicine or Behavioral Health.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills to clearly and effectively interact with diverse individuals.
