The Trauma Recovery Services in Oklahoma City VA is currently recruiting for a Trauma Healthcare Providers for the Oklahoma City Community VA. This position is a multi-discipline announcement and can be hired from Psychologist or Social Workers. This announcement is opened till September 30, 2022, or until filled. This position requires the applicant to possess an unrestricted, current state issued driver's license. To qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements of this position by the closing date of this announcement. 09/30/2022 BASIC REQUIREMENTS Citizenship. Be a citizen of the United States. Education. Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Verification of the degree can be made by going to http://www.cswe.org/Accreditation to verify that the social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a masters of social work. Licensure. Senior social workers must be licensed or certified by a state at the advanced practice level which included an advanced generalist or clinical examination, unless they are grandfathered by the state in which they are licensed to practice at the advanced practice level (except for licenses issued in California, which administers its own clinical examination for advanced practice) and they must be able to provide supervision for licensure .English Language Proficiency. Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. § 7403(f). Grade Determination for the GS-12 Sr. Social Worker Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as Senior Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. Education and Experience. The candidate must have at least two years of experience post advanced practice clinical licensure and should be in a specialized area of social work practice of which, one year must be equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Senior social workers have experience that demonstrates possession of advanced practice skills and judgment. Senior social workers are experts in their specialized area of practice. Senior social workers may have certification or other post-masters training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship or equivalent supervised professional experience in a specialty. Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs: Skill in a range of specialized interventions and treatment modalities used in specialty treatment programs or with special patient populations. This includes individual, group, and/or family counseling or psychotherapy and advanced level psychosocial and/or case management. Ability to incorporate complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment within approved clinical privileges or scope of practice. Knowledge in developing and implementing methods for measuring effectiveness of social work practice and services in the specialty area, utilizing outcome evaluations to improve treatment services and to design system changes. Ability to provide specialized consultation to colleagues and students on the psychosocial treatment of patients in the service delivery area, as well as role modeling effective social work practice skills. Ability to expand clinical knowledge in the social work profession, and to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines pertaining to the service delivery area. Diverse experience working with patients who have experienced trauma. Must have experience in evidence based practices. The full performance level of this position is a GS-12. The primary duty location is the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System (OKCVAHCS) (635), Oklahoma City facility which may also include the CBOCs; some travel may be required as needed. Patient care may also be provided using Telemental Heath through CVT, VVC, and/or other authorized technology that may allow a face-to-face encounter; Telework may be authorized in accordance with the needs of the facility. The Social Worker filling this position will be assigned to and will work closely with Behavioral Health staff as well as other VA Health Care System staff. Tour of Duty: A Standard tour is between the hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Compressed tours, earlier/later, shifts, or irregular hours and/or Saturday work may be required. This position involves compliance with all requirements for Joint Commission and VACO. Also, the Social Worker participates in program planning, process improvement, and evaluation of the Behavioral Health Programs, follows guidance regarding the assimilation and analysis of performance improvement data and utilizes processes to meet the regulatory requirements of VACO (e.g., SAIL data). The Oklahoma City VAHCS is a tertiary care facility, classified as a Clinical Referral Level III facility and is a teaching hospital to medical and behavioral staff. Oklahoma City VAHCS is one of the largest and most complex within the VA system. This position requires independent and advanced decision making and provision of services due to the types of services provided, i.e., Military Sexual Trauma (MST), LGBTQ, and other individual trauma therapy. The incumbent practices at an advanced and independent level, using professional judgment and expertise to make decisions about routine and emergent services and treatment provided to Veterans and their Families. This requires specialized knowledge of mental health emergencies, diagnosis, intervention, and treatment. The social worker independently provides mental health services at an independent and advanced practice level to the Veteran population enrolled at the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center Trauma Recovery Services (TRS) Clinic. These Veterans often demonstrate complex medical and mental health diagnoses (for example PTSD, SUD, TBI, and/or comorbid disorders) that require expert diagnostic skills, judgment, and treatment. In addition, many veterans demonstrate difficulty with readjustment to civilian life. Services include individual and group therapy, psychoeducational groups, crisis intervention, advocacy, high quality case management services, outreach activities, and coordination of linkages to other appropriate VA or community service providers / agencies as needed by the patient.
