The psychiatrist will work closely with outpatient Addiction Treatment Services (ATS) and the Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (RRTP) and help coordinate transitions of care. The psychiatrist is a key liaison between the SUD specialty care clinic and the outpatient mental health clinic. The psychiatrist provides step-down care for patients receiving buprenorphine treatment for opioid use disorder (OUD) in the outpatient setting. The psychiatrist must have completed the Drug Enforcement Agency/Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (DEA/SAMHSA) training and received an \"x waiver\" under the Drug Addiction Treatment Act (DATA) of 2000. The psychiatrist provides treatment for patients with co-occurring SUD and general mental health disorders in the outpatient. The psychiatrist will be responsible for the supervision of medical students and psychiatry residents, including supervision of third year psychiatry residents on their 1-year longitudinal outpatient mental health rotation. The psychiatrist conducts history and physical examinations to include mental status examinations, intake assessments, substance use disorders assessments, and suicide risk evaluations. The psychiatrist must be skilled in psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. The psychiatrist must be able to provide a comprehensive clinical/psychiatric summary. The psychiatrist delivers care in a variety of settings to include in-person, telehealth, and telephone care. The psychiatrist helps to ensure accreditation requirements are met, to include reviewing checklists for compliance with The Joint Commission, CARF, HIPPA, VA policies and procedures, national statutes and regulations, clinical practice guidelines, and mandatory continuing education. The psychiatrist will document patient care in the patient chart via the Computerized Patient Record System. Training regarding the use of the Computerized Record System will be provided by the VAMC. All documentation will be completed in accordance with VA policy and procedures. The psychiatrist will be assigned to treatment teams and adhere to team meeting responsibilities. The psychiatrist will adhere to all quality management performance measures. To include complete clinical reminders, encounters, and clinical pertinence reviews as directed. The psychiatrist will engage in a collaborative agreement with a nurse practitioner and/or provide clinical supervision to a physician assistant. The psychiatrist will participate in performance improvement activities, physician peer review, and committees as assigned. Work Schedule: Work hours are Monday through Friday 7:30 am- 4:00pm.
