The Gulf coast VA Healthcare System located in Biloxi, MS is searching for BE/BC Psychiatrists to join their dynamic healthcare team. The physician will manage scheduled and unscheduled patients in a clinic setting.
Positions are located at:
Biloxi VAMC: 1 inpatient, 3 outpatient
Mobile, AL outpatient clinic: 1
Pensacola, FL outpatient clinic: 2
Panama City, FL outpatient clinic: 1
Major duties and responsibilities include:
The psychiatrist will be responsible for delivery of behavioral health care patients enrolled in the GCVHCS. The work assignment could be in outpatient, residential or inpatient settings.
The provider will manage scheduled and unscheduled patients in a clinic setting. All duties will be performed at the GCVHCS.
This clinician provides professional assessment for mental illness to diverse veterans of a population specific environment and carries full responsibility for interviewing and counseling veterans, providing psycho-social assessment to promote effective treatment of common mental health conditions in the clinical setting.
Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions including diagnostic assessment, medication evaluation and management, suicide risk assessments, crisis intervention, and overall care of patients with psychiatric disorders.
Ensures practice of psychiatric medicine is consistent with TJC, CARF, HIPPA, VA policies and procedures, clinical practice guidelines, national statutes and regulations, medical record documentation, and mandatory continuing education.
Participates effectively in team meetings and treatment planning conferences and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members that enhances coordination of comprehensive patient care.
Orders diagnostic tests and consultations and discriminates between normal and abnormal findings and makes appropriate treatment decisions.
May participate in supervision and teaching in support of the psychiatric residency program, performs on call duties, and performs other directly related duties as assigned.
Some of the Psychiatrists duty time may be spent using telemedicine technology throughout GCVHCS.
Salary Range: $220,000 - $280,000 per year
Work Hours: 8am-4:30pm Monday – Friday

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Citizenship: Citizen of the United States: (Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens)
Licensure: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia
Education: Must have a degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Physical Standards: All applicants must meet the physical requirements established for this position.
