Downtown Psychiatry is a boutique child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry private practice in New York City. We are the ideal practice for child psychiatrists looking to have psychotherapy-based practices. We are unique in that we only employ MDs to do both psychodynamic psychotherapy and medication management. While our psychiatrists sometimes do medication management only and split treatments with other psychologists or social workers, we get a very large number of patients (adults and children) seeking combined treatment (or psychotherapy without medication management) with an MD. We are primarily psychodynamically-oriented, including play-based work with young children, but other modalities (CBT, DBT, family therapy) are utilized when relevant. We are looking for child psychiatrists who are trained in psychodynamic work and interested in further supervision by Lisa Roth, MD (a child and adolescent psychoanalytic candidate at the New York Psychoanalytic Society and Institute and part of the core psychodynamic faculty in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Division at Montefiore Medical Center).
The practice is located in TriBeCa. While some virtual work is allowed, in-p...erson work is required and is essential to treating children and teenagers. Offices are spacious, bright, and have a full play therapy set-up. Benefits include workers comp, retirement, payment for licensing, short term disability, and stipends for health insurance if necessary. A child-care stipend could also be considered if necessary. The practice does not accept insurance. A phenomenal assistant and EMR are also provided to minimize paperwork and allow a focus on clinical work.
