POSITION SUMMARIES:
Three Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist positions are available.
Hospitalist Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist is reponsible for the care of patients in the emergency room, as well as research, educational and advocacy inititatives as determined by the Divsion Chief and/or the Center Leadership. We want individuals interested in a career as a psychiatric hospitalist, consult or emergency psychiatrists. Experience in either area during fellowship or beyond is a plus.
Outpatient Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist (Autism Specialist) who is an expert in autism and other developmental disabilities with experience during fellowship or beyond.
The Associate Chief of Psychiatry, in concert with the Division Chief, promotes a vision consistent with the mission of CNHS, and a strategic plan to provide access to patients and families who need psychiatric services. Is responsible to develop and implement outcome metrics in concert with the Chief to meet the highest clinical performance. Works with Chief to set standards of excellence for faculty within the division. Develops policy and procedures and collaborates with outside departments in the care and treatment of children in need of psychiatric care. Takes an active role in the clinical schedules to ensure coverage of all sites and locations where psychiatric care is provided. Maintains professional standards of the division and help on-board new faculty. Also represents the Chief and the Division with workgroups and activities when Chief is not able to attend. Assists hospital management in the preparation for external reviews and facilitates programs within the psychiatry division. The Associate Chief is a leader in clinical service in the division, providing exemplary psychiatric care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The faculty physician is responsible for the care of patients in the hospital and clinics, as well as research, educational and advocacy initiatives as determined by the Division Chief and/or the Center leadership
REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in the area of expertise.
Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.
Ability to function independently in evaluating patient problems and developing a plan for patient care.
Ability to incorporate ethical concepts into patient care and discuss these with the patient, family, and other members of the health care team.
Ability to advise, supervise and train clinical professionals and/or students in area of expertise.
Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
Demonstrates a personal commitment to Continuing Medical Education and remains current on the developments and progress in his/her subspecialty.
Demonstrates knowledge of and complies with legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.
Minimum Education
Medical Doctor (M.D.) - Medical degree from an accredited medical school with a residency in General Psychiatry and a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Minimum Work Experience
5 years as an attending physician in inpatient and outpatient services
Required Licenses
Unrestricted license in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia and credentialed attending staff category physician on the medical staff of Children’s National Medical Center.
Board certified in General Psychiatry
Board certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
