The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences of Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) invites applications for an Associate Chief of Intensive Services at Franciscan Children’s, a full-time position dedicated to oversight and development of clinical programs related to the BCH/Franciscan Children’s intensive services. Reporting to the Chief of Clinical Enterprise of BCH-Chief Behavioral Health Officer of Franciscan Children’s, and working collaboratively with our McLean clinical partners, this position will be responsible for the growth and clinical excellence of the existing inpatient and CBAT units located on the Franciscan’s campus. The incumbent for this position will serve a key role in the integration of the existing intensive and emergency services at BCH with the intensive services on the Franciscan Children’s Brighton campus. As part of their academic appointment the position will also have clinical and/or research responsibilities at BCH. A major expansion of pediatric behavioral health services across the full continuum of care will be built out on the Franciscan campus over the next 5 years, and this position will have the opportunity to contribute to the strategic development and growth of this continuum. This position will co-lead, with the Associate Chief of Intensive Services at BCH, our intensive services teams across campuses and advance evidence-based best practices, enhance the ability to handle psychiatric and medical complexity, and ensure a thriving culture of safety, training and research. Working closely with clinical leaders of psychiatric services across the BCH, FCH, and McLean care continuum this position will assist children and families access the right level of care at the right time. The position will be expected to intentionally and transparently advance health equity and support the development and retention of a diverse workforce. This position will be a combination of administrative leadership and clinical psychiatric care with the potential for a research component consistent with the interests and academic goals of the applicant and their alignment with the strategic vision of the Department of Psychiatry. Part-time appointment at Harvard Medical School is expected at the Assistant or Associate Professor level commensurate with experience and requires ongoing teaching and scholarship.
Applicants must possess an MD, DO, MD/PhD, PhD or PsyD and have specific experience working in inpatient behavioral health. Applicants must also be board certified in child/adolescent psychiatry or hold a health service provider license in psychology in the state of Massachusetts. Psychology applicants are required to have completed both an APA/CPA-approved doctoral program and internship. The successful candidate will have previous experience developing innovative systems of care and supporting training and education programs and a strong commitment to health equity and anti-racist practices.
