Position: Pain Management Psychiatrist in Reno, NV

Work Schedule: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday
Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays, and possible 5-day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)
Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided
Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

• Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and treatment of patients with chronic pain conditions.
• Integrate psychiatric care with pain management strategies to optimize patient outcomes.
• Utilize evidence-based therapies, including medication management and psychotherapy, to address pain-related mental health conditions.
• Collaborate with primary care providers, pain specialists, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.

Quality and Safety Oversight:

• Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives within the pain management and psychiatry departments.
• Ensure adherence to clinical guidelines and standards of care for pain management and psychiatric services.
• Monitor and improve patient outcomes and safety metrics.

Staff Education and Training:

• Provide mentorship and education to medical students, residents, and fellows.
• Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with advancements in pain management and psychiatry.
• Conduct educational workshops and seminars for healthcare staff on pain management and mental health topics.

Patient Care:

• Develop individualized treatment plans that address both pain and mental health conditions.
• Interpret diagnostic tests and assessments to guide treatment decisions.
• Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and management plans.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).

Collaboration and Teamwork:

• Work collaboratively with other healthcare providers, including pain specialists, primary care physicians, and mental health professionals.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case conferences.
• Contribute to the development of departmental policies and procedures related to pain management and mental health.
